"On the whole, there have been a number of providers I have seen over the past two years regarding this and a possibly related issue. Of eight providers (doctors in person and remote, and PAs/PTs): Two devalued or dismissed my concern, even though it was expressed in context of what has taken place over an extended time and with an identifiable cause (and resulted from a doctor who recommended a procedure without listening to the explanation about a previous reaction given him at the same appointment). One (by remote contact) looked into the matter within her area of expertise (with my request for more than a cursory check) but was confused as to why I was sent to her by my GP and rolled her eyes as "so much information" becoming available that there was no time to be be familiar with it, putting the research back on the patient). Two were unfamiliar with the problem and sought to provide previous traditional treatments (I finally finally found medical papers that now define it and gave it to them prior to suspending further treatment, at least for now). And three have actively listened and sought to address this not-yet well known situation. They were open to receiving information about new research and interested in trying to help with future concerns, should there be any. At present, I am not highly secure in future MA encounters, as the onus seems to be on the patient to explain and provide evidence of any issue not known in traditional medicine and readily solved in a 30-minute appointment and/or a prescription. At this point, my concern is that MA is beginning to resemble a medical clinic in a distant town where I formerly lived. That clinic went from a personable place to a rigidly scheduled, quick to make judgement place run by the bottom line and the clock. Its level of inaccuracy also noticeably increased. When I returned to this area, I was very impressed with MA. Even now, one senior physician and one PA have been impressive in offers to employ extra time to gather information, explain facts, and offer to follow-up on results from a test. On the whole, the remote registration and fairly common unwillingness to do more than the traditional approach known to the provider is understandable in the current staffing issues in modern medicine but quite unsettling to patients who have concerns that don't fit a set protocol."
