Miranda Kieler, Ph.D., LISW, is a member of the Medical Associates Psychiatry & Psychology Department; Miranda provides diagnostic assessment, counseling, and therapeutic intervention for patients 18 years of age and older. Psychotherapy services utilize treatment approaches that include CBT, MI, EMDR, mindfulness, DBT, person-centered, and solution-focused interventions. She has a special interest in working with those addressing struggles with mood disorders such as bipolar and depression, anxiety disorders including generalized anxiety or social anxiety, trauma, loss, substance misuse, abuse (either person struggling or spouse/partner), and general women-related issues such as body image, low self-esteem, boundary issues, etc. She also works with people on an individual level to address relationship issues or abuse. 

She received her Ph.D. in Social Work (focusing on clinical social work and addiction) from Walden University, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She received her Master of Social Work (MSW) and Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Clarke University, Dubuque, Iowa. Additionally, she is fully licensed and certified in the state of Iowa. She is currently pursuing licensing in Illinois. 

She is a previous Assistant Professor at Clarke University, where she taught clinical practice courses in the graduate and undergraduate social work programs. While teaching, she provided pro bono counseling services to the university. She is a prior addiction therapist and has worked primarily with those who struggle with co-occurring disorders or those with spouses or family members who struggle with addiction. She has worked with those on federal probation, those with court mandates, served as a therapy provider for a local Drug Court Program, facilitated Prime for Life Education courses and Intensive Outpatient Therapy.

She is approved by the Iowa Board of Professional Licensure to provide clinical supervision to social workers pursuing independent licensure. She is the owner of Miranda Kieler Counseling & Consulting LLC. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW), the Clinical Social Work Association (CSWA), the Higher Education Case Management Association (HECMA), and the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE). Additionally, she sits on the Advisory Board for the Clarke University Social Work Department.
