Experiencing cancer and associated treatments may be overwhelming. Cancer patients may experience persistent sadness, anxiety, stress, grief, and worry. The Medical Associates Oncology and Hematology Department welcomes you to meet with our psychologist, Dr. Nicole Keedy.
Our Services
As a licensed psychologist, Dr. Keedy is able to offer the following unique contributions to your cancer care:
- Evaluate and differentiate typical adjustment vs. clinically significant anxiety, trauma, or depression.
- Assist with effective stress management, using evidence-based treatments (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy).
- Address patterns in thinking and behavior that may be affecting your pain and/or emotional symptoms.
- Teach relaxation techniques and mindfulness for anxiety, pain, and nausea management.
- Assist with treatment decision-making, both with individuals and families.
- Address concerns regarding cancer’s effects on intimacy.
- Offer support to adult loved ones, and provide referral options for children.
- Address struggles adhering to treatment recommendations, using behavioral modification approaches.
- Assist in coping with physical changes, such as post-surgical scarring, mastectomy, or stomas.
- Treat phobias (needles, radiation devices), using an evidence-based approach, during procedures.
- Grief processing, including anticipatory grief
